About the Study

Conducted quarterly by Wifpli, the Manufacturing Pulse Study gathers insights from hundreds of manufacturing facilities across a wide range of secotrs, including forgers, metalformers, tool builders, fastener manufacturers, gear and bearing producers, plastics processors, die casters and industry suppliers.

The latest report includes:

  • An overview of the current manufacturing climate, based on responses from 321 participants
  • Key trends and benchmarks affecting manufacturers
  • Process-specific insights for the forging industry
  • Supplier-focused data and analysis
  • Capacity and utilization trends
  • Forward-looking indicators that can help companies inform business planning and strategy

The study also provides FIA with important industry data that can be used to better understand the health of the forging sector and support our advocacy efforts with policymakers.

The Manufacturing Pulse Study is conducted in partnership with the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA), Forging Industry Association (FIA), Industrial Fasteners Institute (IFI) and Motion and Power Manufacturers Alliance (MPMA).

Help Strengthen the Data

The value of the Manufacturing Pulse Study depends on participation from manufacturers across the industry. Wipfli reviews responses and follows up when clarification is needed to help ensure the resulting benchmarks are accurate and meaningful.
